Audi's 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI (EA888) engines are prone to timing chain tensioner failure from 100,000–150,000 km. We replace the chain, tensioners, guides and VVT actuators before serious damage occurs.

In the EA888 both tensioner and guides are renewed together — a partial job is not sufficient.
