Volvo's 2.0 Drive-E engine family (D4, D5, T5, T6) can show timing chain wear from 150,000–180,000 km. Following oil change intervals and using the correct oil grade is critical, especially in diesel versions. D5 AWD models require more complex chain work due to all-wheel drive.

Drive-E engines have strict oil spec requirements (Dexos2 / Volvo VCC-RBS-2-AE) — using the wrong oil noticeably accelerates chain wear.
